Mati Bangladesh
Self-defined rural development

Mati Bangladesh is an organisation that aims to unite all human forces in the universal fight against extreme poverty. Mati Bangladesh fight towards a life in dignity for all human beings, regardless of gender, status, ethnicity or beliefs.

Mati was founded in 1998 by Lenen Rahaman, who was convinced that extreme poverty in rural Bangladesh (and all over the world) was a profound injustice and that it could not be tolerated in a so-called civilized society.

Together with a group of friends who shared his humanistic values, he launched the first "Mati-project" in the small village of Huzurikanda in Sherpur district. Since then, the association has grown and continues its actions.

Mati Bangladesh wants to eradicate poverty through sustainable development freely defined by societies. Indeed, the association believes that the development of societies is in their hands. They work with people who have ideas to improve the situation and bring about change. The association fights for access to the resources necessary to live for all.
