Jean Tonglet is a member of permanent volunteer corp with ATD Fourth World. He will join the Comité international 17 octobre from October 2023.
Jean has been a permanent volunteer with ATD Fourth World since October 1977, and was the first director of the Joseph Wresinski Centre from 2003 to 2010. At the age of 20, Jean answered Wresinski’s call to fight injustice and joined young people around the world to work for a better world.
Looking for a better world
Jean has written extensively on the Movement, focusing in particular on rethinking poverty with those who live it, and seeking an inclusive, justice-based approach to overcoming poverty. For the past 20 years, Jean has been director of the Revue Quart Monde, a quarterly publication of the Fourth World Movement that aims to stimulate reflection. Involved in the publication of the writings of the founder of the ATD Movement, he is the webmaster of the multilingual site dedicated to Joseph Wresinski. Jean has been deeply involved with October 17th since the first commemoration in 1987 and embodies the founding spirit of the date.
