The Jacobins Breeders for Development initiative

Jean MASEMO BUBEGE is co-founder of the NGO IJED (The Jacobins Breeders for Development Initiative). Since the NGO's creation in March 2000, he has assumed the role of Managing Director with passion and dedication. IJED is in line with the ideas promoted by CETIM (Center for study, research and information on the mechanisms behind poor development), which emphasize that our unique world is sadly underdeveloped. He believes that “if injustice did not exist, we could build a world where peace reigns in dignity, without discrimination, and where no one suffers from hunger, because there is strength in numbers, as the saying goes”. In 2011, determined to pursue its mission, the association joined the Forum du Refus de la Misère, initiated by Joseph Wresinski. Since then, it has carried out numerous concrete actions, leaving significant marks in its quest for more equitable and sustainable development.

The Jacobins Breeders for Development initiative is an organization active in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Its mission is to promote peasant knowledge and gender equality in the fight against ignorance, with an emphasis on basic education. It works to consolidate peace and democracy, while combating poverty. Its commitment extends to the protection of children, the environment and ecosystems, while seeking to reduce the morbidity rate through education programs on water, hygiene and sanitation, and the treatment of Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs).

According to Jean MASEMO BUBEGE, « The population of our country (DRC) lives in precarious conditions. These conditions are characterized by :

  • Poverty and food insufficiency, resulting from low agro-pastoral production.
  • Women’s illiteracy and marginalization due to customary principles and laws.
  • Lack of access to drinking water and absence of a local community health promotion system.

Our vision is to see a profound change in our society, where children, women and the elderly live in acceptable social and economic conditions, thanks to easy access to basic social services such as health, education, water and food. We also aspire to guarantee fundamental rights and human dignity for all.

We intervene in food security and livelihoods, environmental conservation and protection, social cohesion and health and social inclusion».
