Mr. Romeo Lagahit has been actively committed to the promotion and organisation of october 17 celebrations for several years. He initiated the creation of a replica of the 17 October memorial slab in his hometown of Davao City
He worded for many years as the Regional Director of the Presidential Commission on urban poverty in the Mindanao region. Its enduring commitment to social development and poverty eradication has raised awareness in the Philippines of the necessity to work with people living in extreme poverty to overcome poverty and defend their rights. He was a tireless organiser and supporter of the annual 17 October celebrations.
