Member of the International Volonteer Corps of ATD Fourth World since 1982.
Jean Toussaint has carried out numerous missions: Habitat sharing in very poor and stigmatized neighborhoods; establishment of the Movement in the Central African Republic; management of an enterprise for the purpose of employing the long-term unemployed; coordination of the Université Populaire in the North of France; responsible for an action aimed at the professional integration of very disadvantaged young people, often not in school/training; co-responsible for the Movement in France; responsible for fundraising/friendship; and member of the research team on “Misery is Violence”. He was a member of the General Delegation of the International Movement ATD Fourth World from 2012 to 2016 and a member of the ATD Fourth World Delegation for the Indian Ocean from 2017 to 2019. Since 2020, he has joined the team in charge of developing the Croisement des Savoirs, an initiative aimed at co-constructing knowledge with the most disadvantaged people.
During all these engagements, he learned a lot about the courage, the sense of others and the intelligence of the most deprived populations. He is more convinced than ever that justice and peace can never be achieved without the close involvement of those who are most often the victims of injustice and violence. test
October 17 is an opportunity for all of us to live inventive partnerships centered on the poorest, in which their presence and participation inspire us to always seek to surpass ourselves, and not to be satisfied with a situation where so many women and men are denied and mistreated, whether in the name of an ideology or in the name of the well-being of some.
