We are very happy to share with you several photos from this meeting which took place in Dublin from the 12th to the 15th of May, 2014.

Monday 12 May

Members of the Irish National 17 October Committee welcomed the International Committee for October 17.

We introduced ourselves and the aims of this meeting.


The evening finished with lovely Irish songs sung by the group Cathal.

Tuesday 13 May

Starting the work of the International Committee for October 17, with guests from UK and Ireland.

Meeting with Ms Joan Burton T.D. Minister for Social Protection.

This meeting gave political recognition to the Irish  National 17 October Committee who were able to take advantage of the visit of the International Committee for October 17.

Bernadette McMahon (on behalf of the Irish National Committee) and Donald Lee (President of the International Committee) spoke to her about the meaning of the International Day and the role of the Committee. Donald and Bernadette then presented to her the International Charter for 17 October on behalf of the International Committee for October 17.

This meeting took place at the Irish Parliament, the Dáil with the support of the Department of Social Affairs.

Afterwards we had a well earned rest at the beach.

Wednesday 14 May

We had an inspiring morning meeting with the Friends of October 17 in Dublin.

We ended the morning by gathering at the Commemmorative stone, situated close to the Famine Memorial (Custom house Quay).

Our work was concluded by our last roundtable meeting,

and by a wonderful spring evening.
