The ninth biennial meeting of the International Committee for October 17 took place in Méry-sur-Oise, France at ATD Fourth World’s International Centre from June 7-10, 2022.

From 2019 to 2021 members of the International Committee were not able to hold meetings in person due to the pandemic.

As part of the of the meeting in Méry-sur-Oise, on June 9, the International Committee for October 17 and the French Committee for October 17 took part in an event at France’s Economic, Social and Environmental Council (ESEC). This event looked back on the 30 years that have passed since the recognition of October 17 by the UN as the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty. The remarkable speeches of Roberto Bissio, France Fournier and Bernard Monnet, all three members of the International Committee for October 17, highlighted the 30 years of dedication to ensure respect for Human Rights, keep the spirit of October 17 and build a world where the dignity of all is respected.

The President of the International Committee for October 17, Ms. Aye Aye Win, recalled that challenges are still ahead. Ms. Win also officially published the International Committee for October 17’s Paris Declaration.
