New replica of the Stone in Glasgow

We (The Poverty Truth Community, Bridging the Gap and ATD Fourth World)) are delighted to let you know that this week the new stone and an explanatory plaque have been laid in George Square at the base of the Sir Walter Scott Monument.

We would like to thank Glasgow City Council for permission for the new stone to be laid in a much more prominent and protected position. And we would like to thank each of you for your financial support and encouragement in making this happen.

Poverty is neither inevitable nor acceptable. We are proud to have a monument in the centre of our city affirming the struggle, dignity and story of all those who live with it. And the responsibility of each of us to overcome it.

We hope you will soon be able to see the stone for yourself and to join us there on October 17 at 11:45 to celebrate together the United Nations International Day for the Eradication of Poverty.
